A painted Tibetan 'Dragon' Storage Chest
The chest, probably in cedar wood is covered with fabric with iron closure and seals, the relief decoration is painted with mineral colors.In the front on a red background there is a dense floral decoration that takes up the classic motifs of Tibetan fabrics, in the center a quatrefoil panel enclosing a ferocious writhing dragon grasping a flaming pearl.Tibetan chests and trunks were used as storage in homes and monasteries.
